Dr. Charithea Charalambous was awarded with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh (in 2018). Her PhD thesis focuses on the design, development, and testing of a novel temperature swing adsorption process for carbon dioxide capture, compression, and purification directly from atmospheric air. During her PhD, Charithea took a three-month secondment in the Universidade Federal do Ceará with the aim to measure pure-component and mixture adsorption isotherms on novel adsorbents. Charithea has joined Heriot-Watt University in 2018 as a Research Associate. Her role initially focused on the development of advanced dynamic models for CO2 capture and control models that will enable a smooth, effective, and safe operation of amine-based capture technologies (as part of the EU/ACT ALIGN-CCUS project). More recently, Charithea was also involved in the EU/ACT PrISMa project leading all the process modelling activities of her team.
