Citation name

Smith, A.

Aaron Smith earned a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Mississippi State University. His graduate work was on optimization of a mixed-acid fermentation that was part of a biofuel process. After graduate school, he worked for a startup company attempting to commercialize this technology. Aaron then went to HTRI and has been there since 2012 and has been the lead of HTRI's crude oil fouling program. Aaron is the Chair of HTRI's Crude Oil Fouling Task Force which is an advisor group of HTRI members. Aaron has lead a team that designed operated custom pilot scale crude oil fouling research rigs. He has overseen hundred of fouling tests. His contributions include development of criteria-based analytical methods, development of guidelines and best practices for fouling research, and development of advanced experimental techniques.
