In this issue, we are honored to recognize David and Karen Eckhardt's generous endowment gift to AIChE, as well as to highlight key meetings and special events scheduled for our meeting in Atlanta. We hope to see many of you there and to be able to express our gratitude in person.

2013 was a year of fundraising success thanks to the generous support from individuals and corporations. The AIChE Foundation raised nearly one million dollars from existing and new campaigns.

John C. Chen, the Carl R. Anderson Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Lehigh Univ. (Bethlehem, PA), and AIChE’s president in 2006, died suddenly on Dec. 30, 2013.
