The Floating Ink Experiment explores the concepts of surface chemistry, density, and flocculation explained in simple terms for young students to understand. On a smooth surface dish, the young student will lightly draw a picture of what they desire with an expo marker and with a sharpie. Then, the student will slowly pour water onto the smooth surface dish. The water will cause the expo marker drawing to float on top of the water, while the sharpie drawing will stay attached to the dish.
