We need energy for just about everything we make and do. Currently energy is primarily produced using fossil fuels, however in recent years, share of renewables in energy mix has been gaining momentum, particularly in power sector. Renewables will play a key role in achieving net-zero emission as set in the Paris agreement. Note that the transitions in energy sector have happened before, where we saw growth in the use of coal, and then oil and natural gas and more recently in new technologies such as solar and wind power. This talk will review the energy systems, its evolution, and the technology development within Shell preparing for the transition â particularly in gas conversion and its utilization â example Green and Blue H2, CCUS, Dense Energy Carrier and alternate ways of synthesizing syngas.
