November Meeting: “Project Risk Management"

General Topic Synopsis

There are many variables that play a role in either the success or failure of a project. Early risk assessment and the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies play an important role in a project’s success. This presentation will discuss the sources of risks, using a structured approach to risk management, and the importance of turning plans into actions in order to effectively manage risks in order to influence project success.

Tom Moran - Executive Director of Fluor’s Corporate Risk Group. Tom has 38 years of engineering and design, commercial strategy, project management and project risk management experience. For the majority of his career, Tom has successfully managed complex domestic and international projects in the chemicals industry; many of which were first of a kind projects. In his current role, he is one of two individuals within Fluor Corporation that is authorized to approve the submission of proposals globally for those projects that are designated as “Risk” Projects. He has a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Florida.
