At the start of each year, our Section initiates planning for providing judges for the State Science Fair. Our Section awards a 1st and 2nd place, respectively, in the Junior and Senior High Divisions. The award consists of a certificate and a cash prize (well, a check). The winners are also invited to our April meeting.
Judging is held at Colorado State University in the Lowry Student Center. You can learn more about the Science Fair at www.csed.colostate.edu. In mid to late March, the web site will contain a synopsis for each project. You can then review each project. We are classified as Special Judges since our judging criteria consists of reviewing student projects with an emphasis on Chemical Engineering principles. The date is April 6th from 12:15 – 5 pm.
If you are interested please contact Michael Mutnan, our Section Coordinator, at 303-423-1586 or mmutnan@juno.com. He will register you at the website and you will receive a judging packet in the mail at the end of March. If you are a last minute judge, please come to the Lowery Center and you will register at that time. In the past parking has been at the CSU Equestrian Center where bus service will take you to the campus.
This is a very intense day for judges, but well worth the effort. Michael highly recommends it.
