More than 60% of all fuel consumed in refineries is used in furnaces (fired heaters) and boilers and represents the largest energy consumers in petroleum refineries. They are also the main sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Small improvements in furnace efficiency can produce significant operating cost savings and GHG reductions. This presentation highlights a new software package that uses a revolutionary design analyzing large amounts of data to:
• Analyze several years of operating data for an unlimited number of furnaces,
• Establish efficiency baselines and benchmarks for energy cost and GHG emissions,
• Identify no-cost and investment options for each heater and evaluate the economic benefits, and
• Summarize Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for each heater.
Enersimp LLC, has developed a software program which incorporates the ability for handling large amounts of plant operating data to rigorously calculate unit efficiencies, and then use the program to calculate incentives for no-cost and investment options that will improve overall efficiency and reduce fuel gas consumption and GHG emissions.
