To promote the vision of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) by offering financial support to high school seniors who wish to study and ultimately become professionals in the field of chemical engineering. The scholarship will reward past academic performance as well as school and community involvement. It is not strictly based on financial need. It is intended for a student who has demonstrated a high proficiency in core academic courses and who has a high probability of success at obtaining a chemical engineering degree.
This $2000 scholarship is awarded over 4 years to a graduating high school senior in the Mid-Michigan tri-city area or neighboring county who plans to study at an ABET accredited chemical engineering program. If the senior is not enrolling in a traditional 4-year institution with an accredited chemical engineering program, please explain in the application how the alternative program has been designed to result in a chemical engineering degree from an accredited program.
ABET accredited programs are listed here.
Past winners of the scholarship must re-apply prior to each upcoming academic year. The link to reapply is below.

To promote the education of potential future engineers through the opportunity to explore careers and develop skills in engineering and science. The Summer Youth Program is a one-week program at the Michigan Technological University (MTU) campus, which gives high school students an opportunity to explore careers and develop skills. The students will participate in laboratory, classroom and field experiences in a selected career area. More information about the program is here.
The scholarship is awarded to a high school student in grades 9-11 in the Mid-Michigan tri-city area or neighboring county. It covers tuition, room, and board plus a $100 travel allotment for a one-week session at the MTU Summer Youth Program.
The program is a popular event and classes tend to fill quickly. If you are concerned about not getting your first choice session, we recommend you register directly through the program's website. If you are chosen as a winner of this scholarship, you will be reimbursed if you have already registered. Due to the timing of the application cycle, course offerings for summer of 2018 are not yet available on the MTU website. Once the winner is selected, we will work with them to arrange registration and ensure enrollment in their program of choice.
Please fill out the following application and submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than midnight on December 8, 2017.

Our 2016 scholarship winner was Megan Brooks. She is in the graduating class of 2018 at Swan Valley High School in Saginaw.
I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to attend the Summer Youth Program at MTU. It was an amazing experience, I learned a lot about different types of careers involving engineering, and the type of college I would be interested in attending. I found it very helpful to talk with the current MTU students. I was able to go into more depth into biomedical engineering and chemical engineering by speaking with the students studying those specific fields. This was a very beneficial experience and I am grateful for that opportunity.
