Summary
Vacuum systems exist in all throughout industry, but they are often viewed as a black box by many chemical engineers. This presentation will give a basic overview of types of vacuum systems, general troubleshooting guidance, and pros and cons of each of the types. In addition, this presentation will touch briefly on associated equipment and design considerations.
Darbie Barr
Darbie Barr graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University in 2019 and received her Tennessee Professional Engineering License in 2024. Since graduation, she has worked in the Worldwide Engineering & Construction division at Eastman and currently serves as the corporate vacuum technology expert. While her current expertise is in vacuum systems, she has plenty of experience designing and troubleshooting other process equipment, such as distillation columns and heat exchangers.
