Army researchers discover antibody for Zika, dengue
Details from a new study showed that the MZ4 antibody has a positive effect on the dengue and Zika viruses, as reported in the journal Nature Medicine. Results from a trial being conducted by investigators at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research suggest that the use of this antibody could prove helpful in developing a universal vaccine that would be effective against both Zika and dengue.
Moderna: Update on vaccine trials, new pipeline programs
Enrollment for Moderna's midstage trial to assess mRNA-1647, its mRNA vaccine to treat cytomegalovirus, is advancing, with preliminary data expected to become available by the third quarter of this year. The company also announced the addition of three new programs to its development pipeline: mRNA-1189, an Epstein-Barr vaccine, mRNA-1345, a vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus, and mRNA-1273, a coronavirus vaccine.
Ineos, UPM Biofuels reach raw material supply deal
UPM Biofuels has agreed to supply Ineos with UPM BioVerno naphtha, a renewable raw material made in pulp production, to produce bio-attributed polymers in Germany. Ineos will use the feedstocks to produce plastics for various applications, including Ineos business Inovyn's Biovyn bio-attributed polyvinyl chloride.
