Eduardo was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He obtained a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from la Universidad del Zulia (LUZ). He is currently a second-year Ph.D. student at University at Buffalo. Dr Fernandes received her bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also attended the University of Sao Paolo in Brazil. She was a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University in Providence, RI, from 2020 to 2022, and was also an instructor for the School of Engineering at Brown in 2021. Fernandes earned a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and a Bridge to the Doctorate Fellowship. Alejandro is originally from Colombia. He has a B.S. in Chemistry and Process Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada), where he worked under the supervision of Dr Erika Merschrod on vibrational and crystallographic studies of calcium phosphate biomaterials. Currently, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Victoria (Canada) working under the supervision of Dr Katherine Elvira.
