The 3rd Bioengineering & Translational Medicine Conference will bring together top researchers from academia and industry to discuss advances in the development, clinical and commercial translation of biological technologies.
Sharon Gerecht is currently a professor at Duke University. Professor Gerecht was a postdoctoral researcher in 2004 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Israel Institute of Technology. She received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the Israel Institute of Technology (’04), M.Sc. in Medical Sciences from Tel-Aviv University (’99), and B.A. in Biology from the Israel Institute of Technology (’94).
Her group’s research is focused on employing engineering fundamentals to study basic questions in stem cell biology and applying these to tissue repair and regeneration....Read more
Adam is an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at UC San Diego, where he has been on the faculty since 2008. He also is a resident scientist at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Engler previously trained with Dr. Dennis Discher at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his PhD studying how ECM stiffness regulated stem cell fate. He also did a postdoc with Dr. Jean Schwarzbauer at Princeton University's Department of Molecular Biology. His current research focuses on how physical and chemical properties of the niche influence stem cell function and misregulate...Read more
Dr. Christman received her B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2000 and her Ph.D. from the University of California San Francisco and Berkeley Joint Bioengineering Graduate Group in 2003, where she examined in situ approaches to myocardial tissue engineering. She was also a NIH postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles in the fields of polymer chemistry and nanotechnology.
Dr. Christman joined the Department of Bioengineering at University of California, San Diego in 2007 and is a member of the Institute of Engineering in Medicine...Read more
