Overview of Boiler Water Treatment and Associated Wastes
Boiler water treatment consists of steps to remove contaminants that will corrode or cause scale on the boiler tubes. As the boiler pressure increases, more contaminants must be removed. There are also various chemicals added to the boiler water. These chemicals and the wastes from the water treatment systems can produce an interesting soup for discharge. This paper discusses the systems used to produce boiler feed water and the ensuing discharge chemistry.
