AIChE's Engineering Leadership Development

Trade publications have long predicted that the retirement of engineers from the baby boomer generation will result in a significant workforce gap. In the oil and gas sector, this is dubbed “The Great Crew Change.” Luckily for most engineering industries, many baby boomers worked well beyond the standard retirement age, so the effects have not been as severe as many pundits have predicted. Nevertheless, change is afoot.

The focus of this course is to develop the leadership skills of early-career professionals and engineers to help alleviate the gap between senior-level leadership and management roles and newly trained candidates. This online course presents the key core competencies of effective leadership by providing strategies and methods to develop skills in communication, delegation, creativity, and conflict resolution.

This course was developed by AIChE, ASCE, SME, and SPE.
