Flame Retardant Compound Enhances Electric Vehicle Safety

The LNP THERMOCOMP WFC061I compound features non-brominated and non-chlorinated flame retardance (FR) and is designed to enhance the safety of electric vehicle control units (EVCUs). The material is lightweight and can replace metal in EVCU housings, while offering superior structural performance and protecting electronics and other internal parts from smoke, impact, and moisture. The compound can also be used to replace FR polymers that use halogenated additives, serving as a more environmentally friendly alternative. Additional product features include low warpage, colorability, and compatibility with laser welding. Its high optical transmission — 20% at 3-mm thickness — enables precise laser welding, decreasing assembly time and increasing throughput.

Position Sensors Support Nuclear Power Applications

Radiation-resistant linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) are available in multiple temperature ranges for nuclear power applications, including next-generation reactors. Constructed with heat-resistant materials and specialized coatings, the sensors withstand up to 100 Mrad of total integrated flux while maintaining accuracy and reliability. Three temperature ranges address diverse thermal environments — standard range to 300°F for valve position monitoring and structural deflection, high temperature range to 500°F for hotter zones, and extreme temperature range to 1,000°F for advanced nuclear systems including molten-salt reactors. The range features corrosion-resistant Inconel or Hastelloy housings compatible with molten salt environments. The non-contacting design reduces maintenance needs in areas with access restrictions due to radiation exposure. The sensors are suitable for containment structure monitoring, control rod position feedback, valve position control, and structural deformation applications.

Gear Drive Mixers Can Handle High-Viscosity Materials

The BGCT-series is a line of gear drive intermediate bulk container (IBC) bracket mount mixers designed to mix heavy viscosity materials and re-suspend settled materials, including traffic paint formulations. Available with air, electric, and variable speed electric operation from three-quarters to 2 hp, units include the shaft, folding impellers to fit through 6-in. tote openings, and an expandable mounting bracket. Toggle clamps attach directly to steel tote cages from 34 to 48 in. wide. All models feature 90-deg., right-angle gear reducers for low-profile configuration. Variable-speed electric models include pre-wired speed controller mounted on the mixer. Optional lifting eyes and forklift channel allow easy handling for installation and removal. The mixers are suitable for traffic paints, heavier bodied primers, coatings with high solids content, and reflective glass beads.
