Dr. Peres’ areas of expertise are Usability, Human Computer Interaction, and Human System Integration. Dr. Peres received her Ph. D. from Rice University in 2005 and from 2005 – 2013 she directed the Applied Cognitive Psychology Program at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Here she trained over 20 students who are currently doctoral students or practicing usability practitioners at companies such as Dell, HP, ExxonMobil, etc. Since 2013, she has been at Texas A&M’s Ergonomics Center in the School of Public Health. Her research focuses on identifying the unique characteristics of the human-machine interface for auditory and touch displays. She is also developing design principles for these displays to improve users’ productivity and reduce their physical fatigue when they use them. A third domain of Dr. Peres’ work is her investigation into the application of human factors design principles into procedure writing and use in industrial settings.
