Dr. Reeds’ primary area of work is the modeling of accidental explosion and fire events using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). He has applied CFD analysis to wide variety of risk problems in several areas including offshore platforms, Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) terminals. Examples of his work include: modeling of fire and explosion risk analysis to produce Design Accidental Loads (DALs) for design purposes of offshore drilling units, thermal plume modeling, combustion modeling of hydrocarbon releases from offshore platforms and modeling of fuel gas releases within gas turbine enclosures for ventilation assessments.
