Maximilian B. Gorensek is a Senior Fellow, Advanced Modeling, Simulation, and Analytics, Savannah River National Laboratory. He holds BS and MS degrees from Case Western Reserve University and a PhD from Princeton. As co-Principal Investigator for the RAPID Center for Process Modeling, his research includes modeling and simulation of chemical processes from biomass pyrolysis to carbon capture to high-temperature water-splitting hydrogen production to nuclear waste treatment. Dr. Gorensek is also adjunct professor at University of South Carolina and former Associate Editor of International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. Before SRNL, he worked in industry, doing bench and pilot-scale process development, catalyst testing, steady-state and dynamic modeling and simulation of plant processes, flowsheet development, and plant and licensing technical support. He is a licensed PE with 4 patents and about 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. Dr. Gorensek is an AIChE Fellow and Director and past Chair of the Nuclear Engineering Division.
