Dr. Courtney Pfluger started as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Northeastern University in 2011 in First Year Engineering Program. She developed and ran for 9 years an international program to Brazil focused on Sustainable Energy. This program educates students on global awareness and the challenges of social and environmental justice in developing countries. Dr. Pfluger redesigned the first-year curriculum which included engineering design and computational problem solving using the Engineering Grand Challenges. In 2017, Dr. Pfluger moved into the ChE department where she improved the UO Lab and Capstone courses. She guides Capstone students to develop design projects that address real-world, global challenges. She serves as chair of the AIChE Student Chapter Committee and she won the AIChE Education Division Innovation in Engineering Education Award in 2021. She is a Mathworks Teaching Fellow and has won ChE Sioui Award for Excellence in Teaching and COE Essigmann Outstanding Teaching Award.
