Economical Flow Control and Rotating Equipment Solutions

Flowserve is set to display new products designed to shorten the mean time between failure, lower total cost of ownership and meet or exceed worldwide safety and regulatory standards. The new Flowserve QBQ LZ mechanical pump seal is one of the advanced solutions on display. It features the company’s unique Precision Face Topography, patented wavy face design that dramatically reduces fugitive emissions in light hydrocarbon service. Also showcased is the GCX seal, which is designed to perform in variable chemical batch processing.

Hyper-Flow Porostar sintered mesh laminate

The Hyper-Flow Porostar sintered mesh laminate is a new filtration media offering up to 50% increased permeability vs. traditional mesh laminates. As a result, pressure differentials are significantly reduced. Durable and rigid, the Hyper-Flow Porostar can be custom fabricated for applications requiring micron ratings of 40 and larger. The stainless steel construction provides extended filtration media life, with simple cleanup.

Panther PD blower

The Panther PD blower is a rotary-lobe, positive-displacement blower that is designed for either pressure or vacuum applications. Vacuum or pressure is produced by two non-contacting rotors in an oil-free pumping chamber, creating a clean, efficient and wear-free environment. The Panther blower features a tri-lobe design that increases efficiency and decreases sound levels. Heavy-duty construction and oil-lubricated bearings on both the gear end and drive end of the blower ensure reliable operation.

DuraPES filtration membrane

The DuraPES filtration membrane has a higher loading capacity than other commercially available membranes. The DuraPES membrane has a unique patent-pending pore structure and dual asymmetric membrane-wall that provides a protected separation layer. This layer has demonstrated its effectiveness in many applications with excellent retention characteristics.

MDM Magnetic Drive Pump

Magnetic-Drive Pump Can Run Dry. Capable of handling temperatures to 302°F, the MDM magnetic-drive line of chemical process pumps provides patented, repeatable dry-run technology up to 25 hp. The pumps feature a compact close-coupled design with modular construction and individually replaceable parts, allowing simple maintenance and lower cost of ownership.

MW Type Multiposition Valve

The MW Type multiposition valves offer numerous flow configurations, port and fitting sizes, and actuation options. The preload design allows the rotor to be inspected or replaced without removing the valve from the actuator. If the valve is used with the firm’s complementary VICI microelectric actuator, alignment is always automatic. The valves are available with 4 –16 positions in five configurations ranging from simple stream selection to more complicated trapping functions. Standard valve-body material is stainless steel; optional materials include Hastelloy C-22 or Nitronic 50.

MX pumps Magnetic-Drive Pumps

Engineered to meet the most severe industrial applications, the MX pumps are said to be the first injectionmolded resin magnetic-drive pumps that use a split-volute casing forming a vortex chamber. The volute design limits the hydraulic loss in the casing, resulting in increased overall pump efficiencies. The MX pump is also designed for tough applications. MX front casings incorporate reinforcement ribs extending from the periphery of the casing to the suction nozzle, reducing potential for deflection of the front casing from piping misalignment.

Gearbox Refurbishing

Designed to keeps overall process costs at a minimum by eliminating frequent maintenance and costly downtime, this gearbox refurbishing program provides off-the-shelf, CEP August 2005 www.cepmagazine.org 19 refurbished gearboxes to quickly replace units that require frequent maintenance, experience excessive downtime or need replacement to improve efficiency. All refurbished gearboxes meet the same high quality standards as new Chemineer gearboxes and the quality of each is guaranteed.

Thin Liquid Gear Pumps

These thin liquid internal-gear pumps handle low-viscosity liquids with high efficiency, offering many advantages in applications normally associated with centrifugal pumps. The pumps are self-priming and capable of reversible flow direction, enabling the use of one pump instead of two for loading/unloading or line stripping. The pumps’ flow is directly proportional to input speed, allowing them to meter process liquids. They are available in iron, steel or stainless steel, with adjustable end clearances and idler gears of iron, non-galling 770 alloy or PPO composite.

TFC SR2 Spiral-nanofiltration (NF) Element Fluid System

The Fluid Systems TFC SR2 spiral-nanofiltration (NF) element significantly lowers operating costs for a wide variety of selective rejection applications, including water softening, lactose reduction, protein recovery, and antibiotic and enzyme concentration and recovery. The SR2 membrane is highly energy efficient and capable of producing more water per square meter of membrane surface area than competitive products. Hardness rejection is typically 95% and organic rejection exceeds 90% for organics with molecular weights in the range of 400–600 daltons.
