Plasma Module

By combining modeling capabilities related to fluid mechanics, reaction engineering, physical kinetics, heat transfer, mass transfer and electro-magnetics, the Plasma Module lets users model low-temperature, non-equilibrium plasma discharges in a range of engineering disciplines, including light sources, semiconductor processes, surface coating, and medical sterilization applications. Modeling the interaction between the plasma and an external electrical circuit is an important part of understanding the electrical characteristics of the discharge.

Intelligent Authoring Version 4.2

Intelligent Authoring Version 4.2 lets users create translated Extended Safety Data Sheets (extSDS) for compliance with REACH Annex II — new European legislation that outlines content and format requirements for SDS and extSDS, labels, hazard-summary sheets, and documents related to transportation, inventory reports and more.

Business Analysis Services

This firm’s recently launched Business Analysis Services offering can deliver a thorough analysis of an organization’s capabilities and requirements for chemical-inventory management and tracking. This is useful for determining what improvements are needed to either ensure the most successful implementation of the company’s CISPro chemical-inventory system, or for maximizing the functionality of an existing CISPro system.

Combustion Expert

The Combustion Expert modeling tool can help users of industrial furnaces and other types of combustion equipment perform many useful calculations and analyses, including those needed to improve furnace efficiency, reduce stack emissions, perform a mass balance, calculate operating costs, or carry out an energy audit. It allows users to not only carry out a side-by-side comparison of fuel stoichiometry, heating values, stack gas emissions and furnace losses, but to print out mass balances and summary reports, as well.

DFE Advisor

The DFE Advisor is a new online tool that provides guidance on developing environmentally responsible products and processes. It is based on the 2009 book Design for Environment: A Guide to Sustainable Product Development by Joseph Fiksel, which presents guidelines in four major categories: design for dematerialization, design for detoxification, design for revalorization, and design for capital protection and renewal. The tool asks a few simple questions about the product or process characteristics, lifecycle stages of interest, and environmental, health, or safety concerns.

PUMP-FLO Premium

PUMP-FLO Premium is a new subscription-based web version of the PUMP-FLO software. More than 80 pump manufacturers’ catalogs and 135,000 digitized pump curves are available in electronic format, allowing users to search across multiple manufacturers’ product lines simultaneously. Real-time interactive controls adjust pump speed and impeller diameter and display results on the pump curve. Users can collaborate by adding data and project notes to their selection lists, sharing tools and saved searches from the list manager via email, and allowing others to view, modify, or share ownership.

ViewLinc 3.5

ViewLinc 3.5 is a continuous monitoring system that can be validated for use in FDA-regulated, GxP-compliant environments, as well as other applications where product quality or patient safety is a priority. The viewLinc system provides continuous records, advanced alarm scheduling, and automated reporting for monitoring temperature, relative humidity, CO2, differential pressure, level, door switches, and more. Each user can customize his or her interface to show specific zones and to eliminate unnecessary data.

NAG C Library of numerical algorithms for C and C++

The NAG C Library of numerical algorithms for C and C++ has been expanded with the addition of more than 150 new functions — it now contains over 1,300 user-callable functions that are widely used for chemical application development. The functions can be used in a wide range of operating systems, languages, environments and packages, such as Excel, Java, MATLAB, and .NET/C#. Enhancements have been made in the areas of statistics, optimization, linear algebra, ordinary differential equations, regression, random numbers, sorting, and special functions.

DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software System

The DEACOM Integrated Accounting and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software System is now available as a mobile application. It allows users to manage sales orders, purchase orders, production jobs, and customer relationship management (CRM) data via any smartphone device in real time. Productivity and profitability can be maximized for such functions as inventory management, environmental reporting, labor tracking, purchasing, and more.

CHEMCAD version 6.3

Version 6.3 of CHEMCAD adds comprehensive and intuitive features to the software’s existing process simulation tools. This latest release has the capacity to handle up to 2,000 discrete components in one simulation. Composite curve plots for heat exchangers have been enhanced, as has the CC-THERM heat exchanger sizing module. This version allows network administrators to perform update installations without prompting the user to take action. A new recycle cut-stream algorithm improves convergence. Multiple instances of CHEMCAD can be loaded via a component object model (COM).
