

Cleaning of industrial equipment creates risks, both for the persons who perform the cleaning activity and for the equipment that is being cleaned. Often specific knowledge to failure modus are unknown by the persons performing the cleaning and too often heat exchangers are being damaged due to the lack of knowledge and experience of the people making the cleaning decisions. This keynote addresses some basic guidelines towards the following encountered failure modes: e.g. corrosion, erosion, overheating, incompatible cleaning chemicals. Furthermore personal safety items will be discussed.
