Testing of distillation column internals, trays and packings, is still the best and reliable way of evaluating performances of distillation device. In this presentation, the role of the performance testing in separation engineering will be discussed. General approaches, procedures and guidelines for conducting, interpreting and reporting performance tests will be provided. The experimental techniques and principles of conducting the performance test will be presented in details.
