This conference will focus on space travel technology and capability needs, in an effort to accelerate the development of commercial and non-commercial space exploration.

Alongside this conference, the RAPID Manufacturing Institute will hold a short problem-discovery workshop to identify ways that modular and chemical process intensification could be applied to space travel and habitation. The session will include a presentation by the RAPID CTO, Paul Yelvington, providing an overview of the RAPID manufacturing institute and the institute’s roadmap, as well as projects underway that could read on space applications. This will be followed by small-group breakouts where participants will brainstorm how process intensification technologies being developed for Earth use could be modified for space-based processing (e.g., extract carbon and hydrogen to make methane, applying list of PI technologies to extract materials from moon materials to make fuels, etc.) as well as the application of modular technologies for space travel. There will be plenty of time to ask questions about RAPID and to provide your perspective on where modular and chemical process intensification could have significant impact.
