Enabling Technologies Relevant to Drug Substance

Chair(s)

McMullen, J., Merck & Co.

Co-chair(s)

Schacht, U., EPSRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Continuous Manufacturing and Crystallisation University of Strathclyde

This session seeks submissions on enabling technologies applied to supporting the design, development, or manufacturing of drug substances. Engineering contributions to synthetic innovations, including biocatalysts, photochemistry, electrochemistry, and heterogenous catalysis, are welcomed. Novel methodologies for improved understanding and execution of unit operations such as reaction, crystallization, precipitation, filtration and drying are welcomed. Demonstrations of process and product improvements through data-rich experimentation, modeling, and process analytical technologies are welcomed. Applications of novel processing equipment, existing technology to new modalities, device design, or advanced process controls that enable new capabilities are welcomed as well.
