Manufacturing pharmaceuticals requires rigorous process controls and relies on deep process understanding to ensure high quality of both the final drug substance and drug product. Continuous processes continue to be explored by industrial and academic researchers for its advantages over traditional batch processing, offering practical solutions for key challenges in the pharmaceutical industry. Continuous processing facilitates flexible solutions and high throughput to meet demand while offering an improved level of process control over conventional batch processes. This session focuses on the advancement of continuous processing technology for the final drug product. Presentations will cover modeling and experimental work to drive mechanistic understanding of critical unit operations. Additionally, the session will focus on how to address key challenges in scaling up unit operations for continuous processing to drive an end-to-end manufacturing perspective.
