The AIChE Education Division Survey Committee is conducting a survey over process safety in the curriculum during spring 2023. Departments have responded to ABET requirements for process safety training in different ways, and these are not necessarily captured by the annual fall surveys over specific courses and the curriculum overall. Questions include where students receive process safety instruction (a single course, multiple courses, other?), what Bloom’s level students are expected to achieve in process safety and management-of-risk outcomes, and usage of various AIChE and other safety resources. Data from AIChE about the popularity of specific SAChE modules will be presented in addition to the survey results so that the departments may gauge themselves against other universities and gain ideas for new safety training.
