(416e) Summer School Report

The 2012 ASEE Chemical Engineering Division Summer School was held in July 2012 at the University of Maine.  The one-week summer school included a one-day Teaching Effectiveness Workshop by Rich Felder and Rebecca Brent, the annual Chemstations Award Lecture, numerous educational workshops, and team/networking events.  The summer school participants were primarily early-career faculty members and workshops were presented by nearly 50 faculty members.  Workshop materials were provided to participants.   Highlights of the summer school along with available resources will be presented.

This paper is part of the Department Heads Forum. A panel of department chairs will share their experiences on topics important to department chairs. This year's main topic is process safety in the chemical engineering curriculum. In addition, a panel representing Federal agencies will discuss funding opportunities, and informational and update  sessions will cover ABET, ASEE Chemical Engineering Division summer school, the annual report on the chemical engineering faculty academic salary survey and CACHE.
