Environmental compliance can be achieved at less cost, and with greater reliability, through changes in work practices. If work practices are superior to those employed previously, and continuous improvement ensures that no backsliding will occur, then compliance can be improved. Information management can play an important role in this effort because process industries are highly regulated and usually involve large , complex facilities. Early and reliable (i.e., proactive) identification of plant conditions that can affect compliance is critical. This presentation will focus on work practice improvement with a major emphasis on early recognition of action items.
