The speaker is Dr. John D. Anderson, The NASA Langley Research Center: Magnet for Quality

Dr. John Anderson, Jr. is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He holds an Aeronautical Engineering Degree University of Florida and a Ph. D. from Ohio State University in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering. In 1966, he joined the U. S. Naval Ordnance Laboratory as Chief of the Hypersonic Group. In 1973, he became Chairman of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland and a professor of Aerospace Engineering. In 1999 he was appointed Professor Emeritus. Dr. Anderson occupied the Charles Lindbergh chair at the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. He continued as their Special Assistant for Aerodynamics, writing books on aerodynamics. He is currently their Curator for Aerodynamics. Dr. Anderson has published eleven books and over 100 technical papers. Dr. Anderson is active and known for his professional education activities. He is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He has given over forty short courses to major aerospace companies, the Air Force Academy, and the government.
