United StatesProgram: AIChE member and Plant Manager Chad A. Bohannon will give our Section a technical tour of the World Energy Harrisburg Plant. The plant is located in Camp Hill, Pa. Afterwards we will convene for dinner at nearby Theo’s Bar & Grill.
Description: World Energy, LLC, is one of America’s largest suppliers of biodiesel, offering over 200 million gallons (660,660 metric tons) of annual biodiesel production. Their fuels and fuel-blends exceed the industry’s most demanding specifications and they offer certified BQ-9000 as well as Q-RIN-verified products tailored to customer requirements. World Energy has been at the very forefront of establishing the biomass-based diesel industry every step of the way. Biomass-based diesel now contributes nearly 2 billion gallons annually to the American fuel tank and nearly 8 billion gallons worldwide. The World Energy Harrisburg location has a nameplate capacity of 33 million gallons per year, converting primarily virgin Soy feedstock from local markets.
Location: The facility address is 2850 Appleton Street, Ste. E, Camp Hill, PA 17011. When turning onto Appleton Street, proceed to the end of the building, it is the third gated entrance and the end of the street. Park near the large white water tower. Once onsite, proceed through the gate and follow signs to the office at the left of the fork-lift ramp. Chad Bohannon will meet us there and show us to the conference room for the briefing.
PPE: They are currently in a warm shutdown; the plant is not operating. The PPE requirements for the tour are safety glasses (please bring if you have, limited quantity available) and closed toed shoes. We will be going up and down grated stairs, no high heels.
Schedule:
- 5:00 – 5:15 pm Arrival at facility and meeting room (please arrive by 5:15 pm)
- 5:15 – 5:45 pm Safety info and plant briefing
- 5:45 – 6:30 pm Plant tour
- 6:30 – 6:45 pm Debrief and Q&A
- 7:00 – 8:00 pm Dinner at Theo’s Bar & Grill, 3315 Hartzdale Dr., Camp Hill, PA 17011. It is only a short drive from the facility.

If interested, a Professional Development Hour (PDH) certificate is available by request (mention in your RSVP). The certificate will be sent by email following the meeting.
There is no cost for the plant tour. Dinner is each person’s responsibility.
