Speaker Bio:
Wallace Greene, PhD., D. (ABMM)
Director, Diagnostic Virology Laboratory

Dr. Greene is a native of Tennessee where he completed an undergraduate degree in microbiology at the University of Tennessee and a doctoral degree in Comparative and Experimental Medicine at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. This was followed by a postdoctoral program at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital in Clinical Microbiology and Public Health. After completing this program he was recruited by the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in 1988 to develop the Diagnostic Virology Laboratory. This has grown to a full service laboratory that serves the medical center and clinics throughout the area. In 2020 an additional COVID-19 laboratory was created to address the increased volume of testing. In addition to the diagnostic work, this laboratory has been active throughout the years in numerous clinical trials for new rapid diagnostic assays, particularly those directed at influenza viruses, MRSA and Clostridium difficile. He is an Associate Professor of Pathology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology with certification in Medical and Public Health Microbiology.
