Program: Kerry L. Campbell of PA DEP will give our Section a presentation titled: “Pennsylvania Climate Action Plan 2018 – Strategies to Mitigate and Adapt to Climate Change.” The meeting will be held at the Hershey Technical Center in Hershey, Pa.

Description: The most recent Climate Action Plan update was released on April 29, 2019, with an announcement by Governor Wolf that Pennsylvania has joined the U.S. Climate Alliance. This is an agreement between U.S. states to commit to reducing emissions 26% by 2025 and 80% by 2050, goals in line with the Paris Climate Accord and the Governor’s Executive Order 2019-1. This presentation will outline the Energy Assessment Report that provided a business-as-usual baseline for Pennsylvania’s energy landscape from 2000- 2050, given existing state and federal policies, and evaluated the technical and economic potential of all energy resources in order to guide the strategies in the Climate Action Plan. This presentation will also provide a summary of strategies and actions presented in the Plan, and their impact on greenhouse gas emissions and the economy.

For more information, please refer to PA DEP's dedicated climate change website.

Speaker: Kerry L. Campbell is an Environmental Program Manager in the Energy Programs Office of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). He oversees the Pennsylvania Climate Change Program, the State Energy Program, and the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant Program, and develops and implements programs to meet Pennsylvania's energy efficiency and renewable energy, energy security, and climate goals. He previously worked in the Air Quality and Waste Management Programs for DEP and as a Research Assistant at Penn State University.
