Program:

Dr. Darlene Schuster is giving the presentation “Issues in Chemical Engineering for Food and Water”. The meeting will be held at Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hersheypark. We’ll meet in the Chocolate Tasting Experience Lobby Room, just to the left of the main lobby next to the 4-D show. The meeting will include a catered dinner with fresh-made gourmet sandwiches and Caesar salad, covered by the $15 meeting fee.

On Dec. 14, Chocolate World is open 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Parking and admission are free. Meeting cost is $15, which includes dinner.

Speaker Bio:

Darlene Schuster is the Director of Technical Entities for AIChE and serves as the Executive Director of the Institute for Sustainability (IFS), Society for Biological Engineering (SBE), the International Society for Water Solutions and four additional AIChE Technological Communities. The IFS is an industry, membership and youth-focused association to advance the science and state of sustainability and created the AIChE Sustainability IndexSM, a benchmark for industry. The SBE, an AIChE Technological Community, is a global organization of leading engineers and scientists dedicated to advancing the integration of biology with engineering. SBE is dedicated to promoting the integration of biology with engineering and realize its benefits through bioprocessing, biomedical and biomolecular applications. Dr. Schuster was the Clare Boothe Luce Chair of Chemical Engineering at Bucknell University, and held various engineering positions with Gulf Oil Production Research and Chevron Oil Field Research Company. She also was awarded a Science Policy Fellowship with the ACS, where she worked to educate congressional staff and Congress on technical policy issues and received the 2004 Technical Achievement Award from the Central Pennsylvania Engineers Council in part for contributions to novel technology product development and commercialization by her company, DP Group, which focuses on technical management and innovation consultation to a variety of industries. She holds a BSChE (WVU), MSChE (University of Pittsburgh), and PhD (WVU).
