Join fellow chemical engineers as we tour the facility from the intake pump station to primary and secondary treatment sections to final clarifying. The Bissell Point Wastewater Treatment Plant, part of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD)'s Project Clear, is a major facility for treating wastewater in the St. Louis region. It's one of two plants serving the portion of the Mississippi River watershed within MSD and is their largest wastewater treatment plant. The plant is undergoing significant upgrades to improve air quality and efficiency. The improvements are part of MSD Project Clear, a long-term initiative to enhance water quality and address wastewater system issues. Project Clear is investing in upgrades to these facilities, including new fluidized bed technology, to reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency. It is located on the Mississippi River and has a long history, originally serving as St. Louis' first major wastewater treatment facility.
