Please be aware of the following outreach opportunity!
Washington Alliance for Better Schools (WABS) STEM Fellows Program is an exciting opportunity for teachers, industry experts, and higher education faculty to work together to enhance K-12 curriculum to bring real world and contextualized learning into classrooms. Each STEM Fellows team consists of teachers, industry experts, and higher education faculty who meet approximately twice a month.
The intensive professional development experience can result in changed teacher practices and the resulting curriculum has the potential to impact student learning in the Washington Alliance for Better Schools’ eleven partner school districts in the Puget Sound region and beyond. The teachers learn about real world STEM applications in the workforce and deepen their understanding of STEM practices and concepts, and the higher education and industry fellows learn about K-12 education and have an opportunity to invest in the K-12 education pipeline.
Please see the attached flyers for more information about the WABS 2014-2015 STEM Fellows Program.
This year there will be two teams focused on energy/manufacturing, two teams on chemistry/algebra, and two teams on biology/biomed/biotech. WABS is looking for three engineers, three people with chemistry/chemical engineering backgrounds, and two people with biology/biotech/bioengineering backgrounds. The attached flyers give more information and the schedule and locations of meetings for the school year.
Please contact Dr. Blakely Tsurusaki at blakely@wabsalliance.org or 206-393-4506 if you are interested in this opportunity!
