2018 Environmental Division Lawrence K. Cecil Award Winner Announced

Lawerence K. Cecil Award in Environmental Chemical Engineering Winnner, 2018 - Mark A. Barteau

Mark Barteau is the Vice President for Research of Texas A&M University, with academic appointments in the Department of Chemical Engineering and the Department of Chemistry. He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, and his MS and PhD from Stanford. He previously served as the Director of the University of Michigan Energy Institute, and earlier at the University of Delaware as Chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Founding Director of the University’s Energy Institute, and Senior Vice Provost for Research and Strategic Initiatives. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a fellow of both AIChE and AAAS. Barteau brings extensive experience as a researcher, inventor, academic leader, and consultant for both US and international organizations. In addition to 250 refereed publications in the area of surface chemistry and catalysis, he has contributed a number of perspectives on energy and environment to The Conversation, Fortune, and NPR, among other media outlets. He previously served as associate editor of the AIChE Journal and currently serves associate editor for North and South America for Wiley Interdisciplinary Reviews in Energy and Environment.
