Volunteer Opportunities for Young Professionals

Volunteers are integral to any professional organization’s success. When you volunteer with AIChE, not only do you contribute to the Institute,you gain leadership skills and have many opportunities to meet other chemical engineering professionals who are excited about getting involved, growing their network, and broadening their knowledge of the industry.

Here are several opportunities for YPs for you to check out:

AIChE’s 2018 Annual Conference. Opportunities area available to organize or co-facilitate a sessions at the October meeting. Sign up here. The YPC Programming Subcommittee will review all submissions and match volunteers with sessions. Questions? Contact Sara Chuang at sc24@princeton.edu.

Young Professional Local Sections. The YPC Local Sections Subcommittee facilitates the formation and sustainability of YP Local Sections worldwide and YP participation in existing Local Sections. As a Local Section Regional Coordinator you will interact with all AIChE’s Local Sections within your region and participate in the YPC Local Section subcommittee meetings and YPC meetings. Opportunities exist for the Midwestern, Southeastern, Mid Atlantic, Northeastern, Western and Gulf regions, as well as ones for a spokesperson and international coordinator.

YP Publications. Do you like to write? Consider volunteering as a YP writer or newsletter content collaborator. Opportunities also exist for a social media coordinator.

AIChE Beer Brewing Commpetition. If beer is your thing, then get involved in the Institute’s Beer Brewing Competition. Positions exist for competition coordinators to assist with developing the AIChE Beer Brewing Competition (ABBC) and coordinating the competition at the 2018 Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh.

Recruitment and Retention. The Representative to the Executive Student Committee and YPC Welcome Coordinator are just two of the nine volunteer positions who are involved in helping AIChE recruit and retain its members.
