AIChE 35 Under 35 Award to Celebrate Outstanding Young Professionals

This fall, the AIChE Young Professionals Committee with the support of the AIChE Foundation announced the first ever “AIChE 35 Under 35 Awards”. These awards will highlight 35 outstanding chemical engineers under the age of 35 across a broad range of categories that are critical to the profession of chemical engineering.

AIChE defines Young Professionals as members who have completed their formal ChemE training (bachelor’s degree), but are still under the age of 35. This group now accounts for 25% of AIChE membership. Young professionals are the future of AIChE and the 35 Under 35 Award seeks to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of this up and coming generation of chemical engineers.

Nominations for this award are being accepted now through January 31st, 2017. Young professionals may be nominated for any of the seven broad award categories that span the broad range of the chemical engineering profession.

  • Safety
  • Leadership
  • Innovation
  • Energy
  • Chemicals
  • Bioengineering

All nominees will be evaluated by a panel of experts within their given category and the profession of chemical engineering. Nominees will be critiqued on their involvement within AIChE throughout their career, their excellence shown in the specific award category, their professional activities outside of work relating to the award category, and their potential for future growth within AIChE and their career field.

The winners who are selected for this award will receive a $500 prize, recognition at an awards reception at the 2017 Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN, and will be highlighted through various outlets within AIChE and in the chemical engineering community.
