Happy Women's History Month! This month on the ChEnected blog AIChE will be celebrating women in chemical engineering by continuing our Women's History Month Series. You can learn about some important figures in chemical engineering history such as Margaret Hutchinson Rousseau, women who have emerged as AIChE leaders, and about the history of the Women in Chemical Engineering Community (WIC).
The first post of 2022 is titled, AIChE’s Women in Chemical Engineering Community Welcomes New Members.
In a January 2003 CEP magazine guest editorial, AIChE's first woman president Dianne Dorland (2003) said,
"It’s a tall order, but then again the stakes are quite high. Our profession and our nation are now at a crossroads. The challenges are greater, the resources are reduced. How can we hope to steer our way through this rough patch unless everyone’s oars are in the water?"
Her message is just as important today as it was then. Please share these stories and support the equitable treatment, representation, and employment of all women in chemical engineering.
