AIChE has posted the first blog for Black History Month this year, titled Strengthening the Future Pipeline of Black Engineers, authored by Gordon Ellis. Take a look at the statistics of Black students entering chemical engineering and learn how AIChE is working to strengthen Black representation in the profession through STEM scholarships, such as the FOSSI program and more.
This post has been added to the ChEnected series that originally started in February of 2021, titled AIChE Observes Black History Month. If you missed 2021's posts, take a look at these inspiring stories, including a history of the Minority Affairs Committee (MAC), and a profile on Charles Pierce, the first Black engineering graduate in the US.
More posts will be added to this thread in the coming days, and keep an eye on AIChE's social media pages for other content celebrating the contributions of Black Chemical Engineers in the Institute and the profession.
