
Project Lead, National Hydrogen Regulatory Guidelines
Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water
- Tom McCrie is the project lead on the National Hydrogen Regulatory Guidebooks—a joint initiative of Commonwealth, state and territory Energy and Climate Ministers. Tom has extensive experience providing legal, policy and strategy advice to government. His principal fields of expertise are energy transition; climate adaptation; environmental, social and governance (ESG); and broad public sector regulation and compliance.
- Before leading the National Hydrogen Regulatory Guidebooks, Tom worked in the Northern Territory Office of Sustainable Energy (NT OSE) and was the lead for the Northern Territory in renewable hydrogen strategy, policy and regulation. Tom led the delivery and publication of the Northern Territory Renewable Hydrogen Master Plan and development of the first wind resources assessment strategy for the Northern Territory.
- Before his role in NT OSE, Tom worked for over a decade in the Northern Territory in legal roles primarily as in-house counsel with the government owned Power and Water Corporation and as a commercial solicitor with the Department of Attorney-General and Justice.
- Tom has a law degree and is an admitted solicitor.
