Ogechi Ogoke is currently a PhD candidate in the Dept. of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the Univ. at Buffalo (UB) as of Fall 2015. He is a chemical engineer by degree training with minor studies in premedical sciences and chemistry. In his current doctoral work, he is investigating the differentiation of human embryonic stem cells toward the development of microengineered liver tissue. The overall goal is to determine an effective means to treat liver disease and its related end-stage liver cancer. In addition, he is also taking on a mentorship role, serving as course instructor for a National Science Foundation-funded grant at UB, namely the Louise Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) in STEM-related research to teach research methods to undergraduate students. He has presented research at various research venues such as the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) annual meeting, the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF) annual meeting, and the the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) annual meeting.
