Mark Matzopoulos is PSE's VP of Energy & Chemicals and Deputy MD. He has a chemical engineering degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, and 35 years' experience in the industrial application of simulation and modelling to the process industries. Mark has been responsible for driving PSE’s strategy for digital design and digital operations, in particular the role of high-fidelity predictive models in creating value by bringing deep process knowledge to digitalization initiatives. He is also responsible for PSE’s gPROMS Operational Excellence solutions, online applications that combine high-fidelity models with plant data for monitoring, soft-sensing and real-time optimisation. Mark has published numerous articles on the application of advanced process modelling within digital design, and was a member of the winning team for the Royal Academy of Engineering MacRobert Award, the UK's most prestigious prize for engineering innovation.
