Ilyess Hadj Romdhane earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from California State University at Long Beach in 1987, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1990 and 1994, respectively.
Ilyess’ 30+ year career in R&D started as a research engineer at 3M’s Engineering Systems and Technology (St. Paul, MN), developing new drying and curing process technologies. He spent about 3 years (1996-1999) in 3M France as part of an overseas assignment supporting various 3M manufacturing plants throughout Europe while transferring technologies to local 3M R&D resources. Ilyess is currently a Staff Scientist at 3M’s Corporate Research Process Laboratory where he continues to work on Drying and Curing technologies.
He served as Co-Chair of the 19th ISCST symposium in Long Beach (CA), and Chair of the 20th ISCST Virtual event in 2020. He also served as Vice-President of the 21st ISCST symposium in Minneapolis (MN), and President of the 22nd ISCST symposium which took place in Atlanta (GA) in 2024.
