Ghislain Schyns is a molecular microbiologist with a career spanning corporate biotechnology and academics, including significant contributions to microbiome modulation in animal and human health. Trained at the Pasteur Institute and Emory University, Ghislain Schyns advanced microbiome science at DSM-Firmenich, pioneering functional microbiomics, more specifically through synthetic glycan use for gut microbiome modulation, and expanding research to multiple human microbiomes, while also serving as a professor at the University of Amsterdam since 2025.
