Flor Castillo is a Research Fellow working at the SABIC Technology Center in Sugar Land, Texas. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin- Madison, Industrial Statistics & Quality. She is accredited Professional Statistician and holds a B.S in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Colombia.
Flor joined SABIC in 2013 and is the technical leader for the data competency initiative including big data, data science and statistics. Previous to joining SABIC she work at Dow Chemical in R&D where her focus was on advanced modeling capabilities, particularly complex design of high-throughput experiments, machine learning, multivariate methods and non-linear modeling. She also taught graduate level courses at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. She is the author of over 32 external publications including journal articles, conference papers and book chapters and hold seven patents and published applications.
Flor has received several prestigious awards including the National Hispanic Engineer Achievement award for Outstanding Technical Achievement, the Shewell award, and the Talento Bolivariano award in Colombia.
