Dan Coombs has over 40 years of petrochemicals, plastics and refining experience. He currently serves on the PureCycle Technologies Inc. Board of Directors and also advises multiple industry providers developing disruptive technologies. He served as an Executive Vice President (EVP) for LyondellBasell (LYB) from 2015 through July of 2020. From 2017 through July 2020 he was EVP Global Manufacturing, Projects and Refining. During his LYB tenure he also served as EVP for global business lines: Olefins & Polyolefins (2016), Intermediates & Derivatives (2015), and Technology (2015-2018). Coombs also spent 37 years at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPChem) and Phillips Petroleum. Coombs served as SVP Global Manufacturing (2014-15) and Specialties, Aromatics and Styrenics (2012-13), Deputy General Manager Qatar Chemical Company (Q-Chem) 2010-11 and Q-Chem Operations Manager 2008-09. Coombs has Chemical Engineering degrees from The Ohio State University (BS) and the University of Tulsa (MS) and an MBA from Texas A&M University. He is a registered professional engineer. Coombs is an American Institute of Chemical Engineers Foundation Trustee and Chairman of the AIChE Corporate Council. Dan and his wife Ellen Coombs were AIChE Philanthropists of the year in 2021 for their support of diversity, inclusion and STEM education.
