
Brandon Owens is NYSERDA’s Vice President for Innovation and Research and is responsible for overseeing New York State’s clean energy R&D strategy. He leads a portfolio advancing technology innovation across power generation and storage, hydrogen, grid modernization, and advanced building systems, with a focus on commercialization and economic development. Prior to this role, Mr. Owens held senior leadership positions across the private and public sectors, including Vice President of Sustainability at Insight Sourcing Group (now part of Accenture), Director of Power Modeling at S&P Global (formerly Cambridge Energy Research Associates), and Director of Market Intelligence at GE Energy. He began his career as a researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and has advised Fortune 500 companies, governments, and investment firms on innovation strategy. Mr. Owens is the author of the book The Wind Power Story and holds a Master of Science in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Colorado.
